The nation's first wheelchair-accessible wilderness trail. Follows Gold Rush–era flumes with sweeping river canyon views. Beautiful and accessible for all guests.

Empire Mine State Historic Park

California's most productive gold mine (1850–1956). Over 850 acres with 14 miles of trails, restored mine buildings, an English-style estate, and guided docent tours. Admission charged.

Deer Creek Tribute Trail

Runs right through town — an easy, paved stroll along the creek. Perfect for guests wanting a light walk between events.

Malakoff Diggins

30 miles north · 30–40 min drive

The most dramatic Gold Rush hydraulic mining landscape in California. Colorful canyon formations, hiking trails, and a preserved historic townsite. Worth the drive for the adventurous.

River Safety: Spring runoff (April–June) makes the South Yuba dangerous for swimming. Stick to trail hikes during those months. July through September is prime swimming season.
